Storm Damage Repair in Keystone Heights

After a hard storm, you want to know what happened to your roof and what to do first. We get on the roof, photograph every spot that took a hit and explain each one in plain words. Then we fix it, and work with your adjuster if you file.

What Storm Damage Repair Covers

Storm damage is anything wind, hail or falling limbs do to your roof in a short time. Shingles get lifted or torn off. Hail bruises the surface and knocks the granules loose. A branch can crack the decking underneath. Some of it you can see from the yard. A lot of it you can't.

That second kind is why we look before anyone talks about money. A shingle that lifted in the wind and laid back down can look fine from the ground, but its seal is broken and the next storm will peel it off. We show you the difference in photos so you know what you're looking at.

Sometimes a few repairs put the roof right. Sometimes the damage is spread across every slope and a roof replacement is the honest answer. We tell you which one, and why.

What You Get With a Storm Repair

The whole roof looked over
We go across every slope and check the shingles, the ridge, the flashing along chimneys and walls, and the rubber pipe boots. When the attic is reachable, we look underneath for damp decking or stains.
Pictures of each damaged spot
You get labeled photos that separate hail bruises from normal wear. Those same pictures can go to your insurance company.
Temporary cover for openings
If wind opened up the roof, we tarp or patch the spot to keep rain off the decking. It stays put until the claim and the permanent repair are worked out.
Working with your adjuster
On storm claims we work directly with your insurance adjuster. We can meet them at your home, climb the roof with them and point out every spot we documented. They decide coverage; we make sure nothing gets missed.
Repairs that match the roof
We replace damaged shingles, reseal or rebuild flashing, swap out cracked vents and pipe boots and replace soft decking. We can also fix gutters the storm bent or knocked loose.
Your yard left clean
Old shingles, nails and storm debris from the job leave with us, and we run a magnet over the lawn and driveway for any nails that got away.

How to Tell a Storm Hurt Your Roof

  • Shingle pieces on the lawn

Anything on the ground came off the roof. Lose even a single tab and the felt below sits bare to rain and sun.

  • Dark sand at the downspouts

Hail knocks the rough granules off shingles, and the rain washes them down through the gutters. A mound of that sand at a downspout outlet means the shingles overhead have lost part of their sun shield.

  • A fresh water mark inside

A new damp patch on a ceiling or high on a wall means rain made it through the roof. Water can get in a few feet from where the mark shows, so we follow it from the roof side.

  • Dings in metal around the house

Check the gutters, the vent caps and the AC unit. Hail strong enough to dent them probably struck the shingles as well.

  • Branches down on or by the roof

A falling limb can split the decking while the shingles still look fine. Have it checked before another rain comes.

  • Shingles that ripple or flutter

When edges lift, the wind has broken the seal strip. Those shingles are the next ones to blow off.

What Sets the Price of a Storm Repair

Every storm leaves a different mark, so the price comes from what we actually find on your roof. You see that price on paper before work begins. If insurance is paying, your share is usually the deductible, but your policy sets those terms, not us.

How widespread the damage is

Some torn shingles on a single slope make for a small job. Hail on every side can mean new shingles over most of the roof.

The wood under the damage

Soaked or split decking must be replaced before shingles go back on. We can't tell until we lift the damaged spot, and you'll see what turns up.

Getting a shingle match

Older shingles may be faded or no longer made. Tracking down a close match, or redoing a whole slope so it looks even, shifts the cost.

Metal parts and gutters

If the flashing at chimneys, walls or pipes got hit, or the gutters did, that adds work.

Building permits

Big repairs and reroofs require a permit. When yours does, we pull it and book the inspection.

How a Storm Repair Job Goes

  1. 1

You call, we set a visit

Let us know what you noticed and the day the weather hit. We pick a visit time that works for you, and the inspection is free.

  2. 2

    We inspect and photograph

We go over the whole roof, take pictures and walk you through them. You'll hear whether it's a repair or a bigger job, and what each choice means for your home.

  3. 3

Claim or no claim, your call

If the damage is worth filing, we explain how the claim usually goes and meet your adjuster on site. If it's small, we'll say so and give you a free estimate to fix it outright.

  4. 4

    Repair day

We cover the beds and walkways near the work, tear off what's damaged, check the decking and put the roof back together. As a GAF Certified Installer, we follow GAF's installation steps when we work with their shingles.

  5. 5

    Final walk and cleanup

We show you the finished work, sweep for nails and haul everything off.

What People Ask After a Storm

Who should I call first, my insurance company or a roofer?

Let us look first. The inspection costs nothing and shows whether the storm actually did damage before you file, so you don't end up with a claim for ordinary wear.

Will you deal with my adjuster?

Yes. On storm claims we work directly with your insurance adjuster, and we can join them on the roof during their visit to show each spot from our photos. The adjuster decides what's covered.

What if my claim gets denied, or the repair costs less than my deductible?

We'll give you a free estimate to pay for the repair yourself, showing what needs doing now and what can wait. If the job is bigger than you planned for, financing is available.

Can a storm-hit roof just be patched?

Often, yes. When the damage is in one area and the other shingles still have years left, repairing that area makes sense. When it's spread over the whole roof, or the roof was already near the end, a patch won't last long, and we'll tell you. Our roof repair and roof replacement pages explain both routes.

How soon after a storm should my roof be checked?

As soon as you can. Lifted shingles and small openings let water into the decking, and Florida summer rain never gives it time to dry. Many policies also have a deadline for reporting damage, so check yours.

Had a Rough Storm Roll Through?

We'll climb up, check every slope and hand you photos of anything the storm left behind. What happens after that is your decision.
